BIO
Nashville-based Alex Blizzy is a singer-songwriter that is blurring the lines between old and new, incorporating familiar & timeless sounds steeped in Heartland Rock & Alt-Country, resulting in a style that never feels contrived, but completely his own. From looking on as the outside observer to reflecting on roads not taken, Alex Blizzy's music finds a way to extract the universal themes from the entanglement of our rapidly-changing & complex modern society.
Alex was born in Buffalo, NY, but raised in the metro-DC region. This contrast between rust belt and beltway, brought about ruminations on identity, social strata and inner belonging that would ultimately lead him to become the type of writer he is today.
Now based in the Music City, Alex keeps his nose to the grindstone, pumping out recordings alongside an all-star team of collaborators including Aaron Liao, Caleb Gilbreath, Andy Ellis Valdini, and Kate Atanian. Titled ‘A Step Behind’, his self-produced debut album was released on April 28, 2023 to glowing reviews in publications such as Hollywood Digest and V13 Media. It received radio airplay on College, Folk & AAA stations across the country & climbed as high as #18 on Roots Music Report's Roots Rock chart. Recently, Alex was a finalist in the 2022 UK Songwriting Contest's Adult Contemporary category with his song, "These Footsteps," and has previously won and placed in competitions such as the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest & the International Songwriting Competition.
Alex Blizzy is currently performing within his adopted hometown of Nashville, TN, in which he is joined by a stellar cast of bandmates which include Tom Glynn (guitar, piano, backing vocals), Evan Phillips (lead guitar), Kate Atanian (organ/keys, backing vocals), Zack Lamb (bass), and Andrew Cusanelli (drums).
